In Oversee, the status of a lead is an important indicator of their current state within your email campaign. One such status you may encounter is “Refunded.” This designation helps you understand which leads were found to be unqualified or unusable, and therefore, have been refunded by Oversee. Below, we’ll explain what this status means, why it occurs, and how it impacts your campaigns.

How to Identify a Refunded Lead

Within your campaign's Contacts tab, the status of each lead is displayed in the Status column. Leads marked as “Refunded” will appear alongside other statuses like “Opened,” “Delivered,” or “Scheduled.” This visual cue helps you quickly identify which leads have been refunded and might need replacement or further review.

What Does "Refunded" Mean?

A “Refunded” lead is a contact who has been deemed invalid or unfit for your campaign. This could be due to several reasons, including:

  • Incorrect Information: The email address might be invalid, or the contact information is outdated.

  • Duplicate Entries: The lead might already exist within your campaign or CRM.

  • Unqualified Lead: The lead does not meet the criteria for your intended outreach or is otherwise determined to be unfit.

When a lead is refunded, the associated credit is returned to your account, allowing you to search and add new leads without losing value.

Deliverability Assurance: To guarantee the deliverability of your emails, Oversee uses ZeroBounce and Scrubby to validate lead information. This ensures that only valid emails are included in your campaigns.

A deliverability check is performed to protect your sender's reputation, ensuring that your emails have a higher chance of reaching real, active inboxes.

When you hover over the "Refunded" status, you will see a tooltip explaining: "This email failed our deliverability check. Your credit has been refunded." This helps you understand why a specific lead was refunded.

Impact on Campaigns

The “Refunded” status helps maintain the quality and accuracy of your lead campaigns by ensuring that only valid, actionable contacts are being targeted. Refunded leads do not negatively impact your campaign performance metrics, as they are excluded from email sequences and your overall analytics.

If you notice a large number of refunded leads, it may be beneficial to review your lead criteria and ensure that your searches align with your target audience.

By keeping an eye on refunded leads, you can ensure your campaigns are focused on the best prospects, maximizing your outreach efforts effectively.
